Extensive fire tests have shown that ISO-Stroh is less fire dangerous than similar organic or petro chemical products: the high proportion of natural minerals and silicates of wheat straw which is used for ISO-Stroh obstructs the spread of fire though a char layer that protects the material underneath and building behind the straw insulation from the fire heat. Moreover straw only has little afterglow therefore no glow nests emerge and the fire is easily extinguished.
No. Straw is hard to digest because of its high content of silicates and therefore does not serve as food for most living creatures, except for guinea-pigs, horses and cows. The high compression of ISO-Stroh encourages potential animal roommates rather to dig holes into polystyrene and similar easy to penetrate insulation materials.
Every organic material can develop mould growth and can be decomposed. Mould is a very powerful and fruitful life form and a true cosmopolitan. Exactly in this consideration wheat straw has a natural shield protection: it concentrates minerals, silicates and paraffin into its blade structure and therefore is inedible for mould spores. Nevertheless it must be made sure that the straw is not exposed to a high amount of constant humidity, which applies to any insulation material. ISO-Stroh can lead a certain amount of moisture through its capillary cavities (the former “water pipes” of the straw) to a dry section (see moisture balance). In an exterior wall this will usually bee the inside of the building. Therefore there will be a humidity equilibrium through controlled re-moisturizing within the building allowing for a healthy and comfortable living environment in summer and winter.
At present ISO-Stroh is solemnly produced in Lower Austria but we are talking about production plants with potential partner enterprises throughout Europe. Internationally we are also beginning talks with potential partners in Canada, the US and Nepal.
The investment for a production partnership with ISO-Stroh will consist of a lower five-digit Euro sum. The return on investment can be very quick since there is a high demand for regrowing, natural and chemistry free insulation material from builders and architects.
Our partner network is presently under development, therefore ISO-Stroh can only be received directly from us. As soon as there is a partner in your area we will send him your request. Rationality, network thinking and acting are fundamental parts of our trade philosophy.
Our straw material can only be processed through certified enterprises with standard blowing machines. There is no additional blowing equipment needed. Moreover ISO-Stroh is exceptionally cheap, this is why it is not worth the own effort.
ISO-Stroh can be used for roofs, external walls and floors. For custom applications please contact us and we can give you specific information for your project. ISO-Stroh is just as easy to handle as any other blow-in insulation.
Of course! There are no additives in ISO-Stroh and it can therefore be simply aspirated and reused. It even can be resold and used for another building. Alternatively it can be composted, used for growing straw berries or as horse bedding. In such a case just call us and we can find a solution together!
